BlackBerry is expanding its global footprint through strategic partnerships and licensing agreements to produce BlackBerry-branded smartphones, with a primary focus on ensuring the security of its devices. Collaborating with TCL, BB Merah Putih, and Optemius Infracon allows BlackBerry to distribute its products in various regions. The BlackBerry Aurora marks BB Merah Putih’s debut smartphone tailored specifically for the Indonesian market.

Choosing Indonesia as the launch market may seem peculiar, yet the nation boasts a robust consumer base that BlackBerry aims to nurture and sustain.

On the specifications front, the BlackBerry Aurora boasts a 5.5-inch 720p display and houses a Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with an Adreno 308 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable storage. Equipped with BlackBerry’s DTEK security suite, the device stands out as one of the most secure Android smartphones available. Running on Android Nougat, the smartphone operates on a 3000mAh battery for reliable performance.

Available in Gold, Silver, and Black color options, the BlackBerry Aurora is priced at Rp 3,499,000 (approximately $261) in Indonesia. While currently exclusive to Indonesia, the device is poised to expand its reach to other burgeoning markets like India in the forthcoming months.
